Born to a family of falconers in western coerthas, Gisela was brought up to raise and train birds to hunt for knightly cookpots in falcon's nest, and to scout the skies for signs of impending dragon attacks.She was skilled at it namely due to a sensitivity to aetheric currents that spoke of a talent for magic. It was noticed by a visiting astrologian when she was a teenager and she was admitted to ishgard's aethaeneum astrologicum to study. She later was posted at the observatorium in central coerthas, and spent her days quite happily studying the movements of the dragon star across the heavens to predict horde activity.She likened it as not too dissimilar to the craft she was raised to, except with some part of herself as both falcon and falconer.Sometime after, something changed, or it started to. Whether it was patterns she noticed in her divinations, or something she read in texts she ought not to see, or just a romantic ideal of her work, she began to grow curious about the lives of dragons beyond what she'd been taught. Nidhogg rose and fell with the regularity of twenty years, Midgardsormr fell at Silvertear lake, and yet there seemed to be something in it all that lay just beyond her understanding.She tried to keep her curiosity to herself as much as possible, but eventually, the tribunal turned its attention on her, and she was forced to leave ishgard for her own safety.She stayed gone until the end of the war.
